Here Be Dragons
Every so often I build something, decide it’s good, and then realise there is nowhere to say so, hence I created this page.
Most of what ends up here will be about my own work. Compilers, mostly in the sense of what they can be talked into admitting about the code they generate. C++, which I have written for long enough to have been bitten by undefined behaviour in every way the standard permits and a few it doesn’t bother to mention. Go, which runs this blog (a fork of Jan-Lukas Else’s GoBlog, bent somewhat out of shape to suit me) and a handful of small daemons. And under all of it a pile of self-hosted infrastructure held together by Ansible — more of it than I’d like to admit, and certainly more than I’d recommend. If something breaks I’ll write up how, and if I manage to fix it, I’ll write up why - no guarantees on the second part, though 😄
You don’t have to remember to come back. The blog speaks ActivityPub, so you can follow @roman@rospies.dev from Mastodon or wherever else you happen to live, and posts turn up in your timeline like anyone else’s. Public replies come back here and appear under the post once I’ve had a look at them. There’s an RSS feed too, obviously.
I don’t post on a schedule and I’m not going to pretend to - when there’s something worth writing down, it goes here, and if you followed this blog, you’ll know. Happy trails, and you’re more than welcome to contact me should you have any questions.
